The aircraft will be certified in accordance with the 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 25 (airworthiness standards) in three aircraft configurations, all-passenger, all-cargo and a combined-passenger-cargo configuration. The contract for both aircraft was for $118.6 million (Or Eur55.5 per airframe).

Selecting converted ex commercial airliners that are a few years old and having them fitted out with the required milspec secure comms is typical in the strategic lift / VIP role. The RNZAF, RCAF and RAAF and even the Yanks as in this C-40A case. The reality is that they will likely fly just 400-800 annual hours per annum in their new military role so cost versus capability versus utility is a big acquisition factor.

        • The one that's been used by potentially a couple of thousand (no exaggeration) cadet pilots for their first 6 or so landings in a real 737? EI-SEV has been used almost exclusively for base training for a good number of years. Maybe shop around a bit...

            • No other option till they make a decision on a G4 replacement, Lear is fine for Europe trips, but if you need to bring security detail and their kit also, something else is necessary.
