Another possibility seems to be the "New" Bell 210, which is an upgraded UH-1H, new avionics, re-engined and the price tag seems to be around $5 Million and hourly running costs set at $530, seems this should also be given at least a little consideration

They might at least fit the 135/145s out as NVG compatible so they'd be of training use for pilots

Hows about a massive petition and PR drive by all of us who actually care bout the DF. If indymedia can whinge about the sun being two bright because of the evil facsist policemen working for the tyrannical Ronald Mc Donald, then why can't Iremilmedia complain about the pathetic state of our once world class Air Corps. We aren't looking for a NORAD type complex in Abbeyshrule, just what we need to keep our protectors safe, mobile and militarily efficient. Of course our names can't be used or we will be flogged by the CO's but ya never know, it might work.
I'm now going to hide for a few months for suggesting to criticise the coalition gov. in public. Bye Bye.

Do we want ex-RAF helos? I hear that some of them are in a kinda bad state. We would be better off buying new machines and getting a full life out of them, especially with air corps technicians working on them. The way yhey keep the rest of the fleet flying is a testament to them
There is no problem that cannot be fixed with high explosive.
