Theres a cracking new book out called (ironically after last weekend) "Mayday! Mayday! - Heroic Air-Sea Rescues in Irish Waters." Only 10 quid from Easons but gives a good insight into both the dangers that the crews face (+their bravery) and the often make it up as you go along nature of the AC. Nicely written too.

    Cheers ya'll.

With 50,000 men getting killed a week, who's going to miss a pigeon?

It is an excellent book,Just finished it. In a way it makes me think the Air Corps losing SAR was a good idea, due to successive governments leaving the service dwindle over the years till there was almost no service.
At least CHC will not have their funding cut half ways through a contract.
A tribute however, which was long overdue,to the Air Corps SAR crews who again and again put their lives on the line, usually without any publicity.
