Yeah I can help. Hit your friend over the head and then spin him around twice. If he still doesn't believe you then tie him to the back of your car and drag him over to Baldonnel. Ask the medics there to show him some pictures of the airplanes as they stitch up his wounds.

          On the Ground

          And in the Air
It was the year of fire...the year of destruction...the year we took back what was ours.
It was the year of rebirth...the year of great sadness...the year of pain...and the year of joy.
It was a new age...It was the end of history.
It was the year everything changed.

Sure everyone knows the one we have now is just a mockup, after we crashed the 2 we had into the WTC, and blamed Al Qaeda for it....oh wait, I've said too much

Thank god, paranoia hasn't set in yet here.

We have MUCH More than 2. But most of them are used for aggressor training with the fighter squadrons in Abbyshrule
                  Meh.

                      Hi barry
One of the Casas did have a crash, in that it landed before it should have, about half a mile short of Baldonnel. The crew realised their error as the branches were slapping off the aircraft and applied full power and took off again. They actually made contact with Planet Earth as there were tyre marks on the field. They went around and made a normal landing thereafter. They had been on an air ambulance flight, with two AC airmen and at least five doctors/nurses and their equipment aboard. The nurse was in the jump seat and the rest in the passenger compartment aft.....the two radomes were damaged, there were dozens of strike marks from branches along the airframe, both undercarriage sponsons were damaged and one engine intake had a small branch stuck in it.The propellors bore strike marks, too. They came within a hair of a fatal crash that would have surpassed D248's.Both pilots were very experienced and the incident brought forth a lot of speculation, as you can imagine. The aircraft was restored to it's proper condition in time.
Air corps accident reports do not make it into the public domain, for some reason.
                      regards

Surely if would have found its way to the AAIU?

Nope.A Donner accident never merited civil intervention until D248's crash. The Don's Engineering Section always investigated accidents/incidents in-house.

The CASA in question was C250 in 1993(?) which later had a fatal crash with the Chilean (?) airforce. GTTC is correct that they were a hares breath from a fatal accident which was investigated by soley the Air Corps (No civil requirement at that stage).
As far as I remember the mission was an organ harvest in Cork. The crew went down early in the morning / afternoon but as the harvest team had to wait for the patient to die the aircraft did not return home until 2-3am the next morning.
On approach to 11 at night fog started to roll over the threshold into which the aircraft descended. After what the crew believed to be a bird strike they went around and landed on 23. Only after landing did they realise what had happened.
What came out of the investigation I dont know as it was not a public affair.
