I dont think it was necessary to go to PM as I am sure your answer and mine back is of relevance.

In answer to this I can only reiterate

Why do we have to draw from southern bde?

Why was our participant on the std cse told that these items are not available.

There are some explanations to this
-- the store is a myth
-- there is no-one in it!!
-- there is someone in it but they wont do the work to give out the gear
So now lads you all know. Have your CQs contact The unit HQ that cannot be mentioned for operational reasons for all the gear you need. It supposed to be there so don't take no for an answer. I am ringing my CQ now. I am sure he tried this already but maybe not.

eh...let you in on a little secret...I make a point of never firing blanks on tactics..I carry them but redistribute them...I learned my lesson many years ago.

The rest is just pedantic..personnal comfort and well being as opposed to stuff that can't be done without....

Get with the reality stakes.try it some time getting down a dirty and actually having what you need..you might even have fun.

BTW the SIMFIRE.was the pyro for the AML 90.hasn't been used in years.

Good answers T but miner clarifications needed

    1. ?Cos I/we love it???????????????
    2. Neither has anyone else but lack of same and lack of ability to get them from "unit" stores points to lack of existance. Or is that warped logic?
    3. The former, ie it exists. Where in the world?

I know the unit but what is the relevence?

    2: No idea .
    3: It's the former.

So when was the last time you you did a tactical excercise firing blanks from your AML?

If you are told that you can do an excersice at the weekend as long as you supply your own Pyro what are you going to do, pass the hat around?

A sure maybe there should be a Maxol station in the Bks and the lads can chip in to pay for the diesel when you are finished with the truck?

And don't forget rations and accomodation. Sure can't you pay for them yourself. No need for the army to maintain places like Lahinch, Tralee, The Glen cos the RDF lads will
make the best of what he has or what he can aquire
and the likes of the Prisoner will stop
pissing everybody off becuse of their attitude towards getting the job done.
Hey Prisoner aren't you an accountant? You could keep the records for Murphy so he can then try to claim the expenses from revenue. Or would trying to claim the expenses also be counted towards "pissing everybody off"

Dats mean..........................sob! SOB!..............big tears...............but my point was if my "unit" has the systems why are we borrowing from another that not even within our Bde? Also if an inf sub-unit can have a number of items in the sub-unit stores why can't we? And is there even a Unit stores or is that just a paper excersise and everything is sitting in the Curragh?

    Do we?

Last night I was in the stores. We have small numbers of the following:
    sleeping bags. No liners.
    green rain coats
    high vis jackets
    traffic cones
    tents
and a shit load of junk.

Don't know who's been hiding the gear but on camp arrangement has been made to borruw the gear from a unit in the south.

If your not issued with the equipment then under no circumstances should you even consider buying it. This whole concept of buying equipment is crazy and just fuels the attitude - "Don't issue that stuff, the gobs**** will but it with their own money"."

Yes it would suit the Df if we all packed up ourtents and ****ed off home because we didn't have the kit required..but I have far more respect for the guy who tries to make the best of what he has or what he can aquire as opposed to those who moan about what they haven't got and as a rersult end up pissing everybody off becuse of their attitude towards getting the job done.

    The reality is:

The DOD and the AHQ would be delighted if the RDF just packed up, went home and stayed at home.

The lack of kit, etc for people going on courses is a direct result of this attitude.

EG if your ajoinging instructions for a course has five pages of equipment, etc. then you should be issued with the equipment, either as a personal issue or for return after the course. On the last course that I did I kept I kept repeating the mantra "I was not issued with it, Sir" and eventually the penny dropped. The officer was a bit slow on the uptake but after a few days he copped on.

I have been issued a poncho and a sleeping bag before, the sleeping bag was a 58 pattern piece of shite that was too small for me, in our company stores we have no rollmats. I've seen the new issue sleeping bag in use by RDFTA personell it is a very nice nanok sleeping bag. And they had new DPM ponchos.
