Is there an actual M.O.S system in the PDF upon recruitment?
As, right now to me its join the pdf and go right into infantry, or join the cadets and become a infantry platoon oc.
I know in the british army and the american army you can actually get a contract before you even join up from your army recruiter to guarantee you a certain military occupation speciality whether its mechanic, patriot missile battery specialist, medic, infantry, tank gunner, intelligence, heavy weapons, logistics, driver etc etc.
Theres just so damn little information out there when it comes to the PDF.
You dont hear many young lads and ladies out there saying they want to join the PDF to do a apprenticeship as a mechanic for instance, Or hear any wanting to join the cadets to be a signals intelligence officer or logistics officer.
No, you just assume its infantry on both sides, whether as an enlisted or commissioned officer.
So, can anyone shed some light on the actual criteria, requirements when it comes to different specialties in the defence forces? Do they ask you for a preference when you join or is it your own responsability to get a guarantee for a certain specialty before you enlist officially?
