  • Getting hold of the DFR's

Does anyone know where i can get a copy of the DFR books online?
I've asked in my company office but all they have left is two ancient ones that are falling to pieces.

This question can be answered by the fact that DFRs tend to say "RESTRICTED" at the top and bottom of every page.

I thought the DFR's weren't restricted. Didn't someone (DeV??) post before that the DOD could email them to you if requested.

I remember seeing a list of the DFR's on the Department of Defence' (DOD) website before. R5, S7 and A7 certainly aren't restricted as they're on the RDFRA website.

Most DFRs are RESTRICTED, some aren't. same goes for Admin Instructions etc. Usually depends on what they are dealing with. Clothing DFRs tend not to be RESTRICTED while DFRs concerning rules of engagement are.

Im not looking for any of the books concerning rules of engagement or any other sensitive materials just the books containing rules on leave, pay and discipline. Its frustrating that in my whole unit i cant find them

            www.irishstatutebook.ie

            then start of at 1954

you can also go to www.oireachtas.ie (check spelling)

and in the search bit type defence acts and it will list them all for you

failing that try the DOD site

all these are govt sites so there is not the usual restriction poo attached

what in particular are you looking for

Email the FOI Office at the Dept of Defence and they will post them out to you.

Thats it Private...take on the CS. That will help your career.
There are procedures to follow. Quoting DFR to the CS would not be one of them. PDFORRA perhaps?

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Most DFRs are not restricted, the only one I know of that is is CS4 (which covers how many, what rank etc are in each unit - the establishment tables).

If you get intouch with legislation branch of the DOD they will email you the one you want (I advise you to find out the names (eg GRO 1956, A6, etc) first).

                          PDFORRA are useless.
I rang them over a year ago looking for a copy of the DFRs and they said they'd get back to me, which they didnt so i rang them again and got the same.

Im not worried about my career Goldie we are all entitled to be able to know the rules and regulations of our chosen profession. the defence forces should be no different
