Very interesting looking at this years budget [2007] agaginst the previous year [2006]

    eg PDF Pay
Nursing budget has gone down overall [1391k to 1390k]
whilst the number of nurses have gone up by 11% [27 to 30]

ave salary for 2006 was €51,518
while for 2007 is now €46,333

    DOWN by €5,185

    Non Commissioned Personnel
    was €317,122 k for 9100 [ave €34,848]
    now €333,524k for 9150 [ave €36,450] up by 4.5974%

    Officers were €81,931k for 1350 ave €60,690
    now €86,150k for 1350ave €63815 - up by 5.1495%

Military Archieves finally gets it own budget €100k [section "U" 7]

Could driving in the DF be getting worse????
The compensation budget for vehicle accidents has shot up from 697k to 1,300k a staggering 86.51% increase
If you look at it per head of the PDF it is something like €1,244 per head for the year!!!!

The DF must be getting fitter and more healthy
Section "Q" Medical Expenses indicates a certain trend

Drugs and dressings have gone from 2,029k to 2,046k [or allowing for numbers from an average of €194.16 to €194.86 - a real terms a drop]

and for treatment in civilian hospitals a cut from €460k to only €256k a drop of 44.34%
[€44.02 to only €24.38 per head per year]

Where can I get such cover for myself at a price like that????

Look at your own area of the budget and see how you win/loose - especially when inflation is taken into account

Price of fuel oil on the spot market is down from last year which probably accounts for the lower estimate.
I take it no one here has heard of the foul up regarding the EU Battle Group not been accounted for in Budget Estimates for '07. They "forgot" to add it to the Cap-Ex and now there's no money left in the kitty for anything else. Cap-Ex will over run and its only April! Yikes. Hope your not looking for anything.....
Once more unto the breach, dear friends

Added to this for the first time ever there is an output statement - a report on what has happened in the last year [relating to the previous budget]

This is a very informative debate - given on 3rd April 2007 before the Select Committe on Justice, Equality, Defence and Women's Rights
