Ok so after a week of living with a swarm of midgets in the glen i have to ask is there any bloody thing that gets rid of the buggers. All i can complain about is the midgets they are the only thing that wrecks my head on the groud, so small but so bloody annoying has anybody got any ideas on any repellents that actually work because any ive used before seem to attract them even more

Even when I sleep with a midge net on my head I still seem to get woken up around dawn with them biting away. Mainly at the wrists but some always seem to get through to the face and head. Alsolute c**ts! Anyone ever tried a full body net in a bivvy? Does this exist? (as opposed to a mosquito net with the larger mesh).

I find cigarette smoke works a treat .....mozzie nets great stuff and keep every inch of exposed flesh covered gloves rolled down shirt sleeves.
I reckon the midges in the Glen have become immune to all the comercial bug sprays given the amount of DF personel they feed off annually...a super breed of midges bred especailly to eat soldiers!Covid 19 is not over ....it's still very real..Hand Hygiene, Social Distancing and Masks.. keep safe

I find its the Particular Stranahealy Midges (Midgii Stranahealius) bred in the Knickeen River that are Impervious to Deet, Smoke, nets and almosty anything else you try and fend them off with. They Seem also to be able to Crawl through most Mozzie Nets.
I have low anti-Histamine levels, so therefore attract and suffer more from insect bites, I use 1 a day Garlic Seven Seas Capsules for a week before, and then 100% Deet Roll on Repellent and they leave me alone pretty much. But You need your Cuffs, neck, ankles and Face Covered tightly to keep them out.Friends Come and Go, but Enemies accumulate!!
