Yup sure they do..thats why they go to longford at weekends. AFAIK mid week training in castlbar ground to a halt and the idea was to stage traing at weekends in Longford.

Minibus' may be just non op troop transport ..we have two.... but all tactical training etc is done with borrowed and indigenous GS's and FFR's our won AMl90 and any others we can borrow..and the units DR bikes...so I suppose we aren't badly equiped..advantages of being based in a fulltime Bks who borrow our gear as much as we do theres.

The minibus is not an operational vehicle within ANY unit - it's for non operational
purposes - that was my point.

yes quite a few of there bodies are ex infantry most still have not been issued the correct headgear ,
all units need a mini bus and drivers while useless to the cav on camp or tactics , without them admin would be a disaster ,

Module 3 is minibus & truck, they need something to drive. They have to do it before they get to drive AFVs.

Its a Cav only barracks now. 4 Cav Sqn and 54 Cav Sqn. There is a lot of talk about closing it due to the improved situation in the north. I don't think it will be open much longer myself.

    craic there.

In answer to your second question, that would be operational info, and we
would get hand slaps for discussing it !!!

    Pontis don't need transport.

My point is that the minibus is not an operational vehicle within the cavalry squadron. It is something the squadron gets lumbered with instead of useful vehicles.

Unlikely, as Castlebar is not a permanent military post.
Might have a minibus or two there though.
