Two Irish soldiers wounded in Lebanon
    Tuesday, 8 January 2008 14:44
Two UN peacekeeping soldiers were slightly wounded when a roadside bomb hit their vehicle in south Lebanon today.

According to Lebanese security sources the soldiers were Irish.

The blast smashed the windows of a white UN four-wheel drive vehicle in the area of Rmaileh village, 35km south of Beirut and not far from the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp.

It was the third attack on the 13,500-strong UNIFIL force since it was expanded after a 34-day war ended in August 2006.

It occurred hours after Israel said two rockets fired from Lebanon overnight had exploded in the northern border village of Shlomi, causing no casualties.

Israel, which came under Hezbollah rocket barrages during the 2006 war, is on high alert ahead of a visit by US President George W Bush tomorrow

Could of happened when the windows were blown out, there would have been a pressure vacuum from the blast

FFS maybe this will wake someone up in DFHQ and give them the idea that using softskin vehicles in that environment isn't too wise.

No, we'll have to see coffins before that happens.

If the Nissan had rolled, you would see impact on the pillars, not concave on the roof.

Hit by falling debris?....chunk of the side of the road, or a crash barrier maybe?

Could have been alot worse, the nissan held up pretty well all things considering.

Looks more pressure blast damage than anything else.

Or coming home from Iraq. Hizbollah and Amal were using those tactics in the 80's.

                              Speedy recovery.
