I would consider 28th July 1960. It was the date of the first Major Overseas Deployment.

The Siege of Jadoville is also a very important time which is largely forgotten by the DF, although it did teach a few lessons. (i.e. Never go anywhere unprepared again (I am referring to Lt. General Pat Nash and the helis here.))

St. Patricks Day has a Shamrock parade on the square in Cork, would that be considered important?
I probably am wrong, sorry about that!!!

Please PM me to correct me.

But, not if I state an opinion, only if I state something as truth!!!

I have bad opinions but I stick by them!!!

I think every unit in the PDF has some sort of "Shamrock ceremony" on the big day.
Then a parade to the chapel for mass.

I'd say the National Day of Commemoration would be important for the DF.

Not really. Unless of course you are involved in the ceremonial. Most units, if not all, have some sort of ceremony for their deceased members around 1st November though.
