Yeah and as for the RDFTA having worked with them I wouldnt be in a hurry to have anything to do with them again.

I was involved on the fringe of the ex and on the prep weekend.

The exercise its self was really on the Coy attack on Sunday moning. Huge oppertunity to exercise all the troops fully between 22:00h Friday and 10:00h Sunday was lost as the exercise was really only 10:00 to ~11:30h Sunday. As with the prep weekend there was no plan laid down to do anything on the saturday and the units ended up making up things to do.

There was no reason why it shouldnt have been fully tac, out on the ground instead of sleeping in billets. Everyone was on ration packs anyway. There seems to be quite alot of restrictions in place on using pyroin the Glen now. Somthing like nothing in the camp area after dark, nothing in the general area after 23h untill 10h next day?! The Cav did a good bit of recce on the Sat night and the Inf sent out a couple of patrols (really only for show I think).

The Arty got to play real soldier for the weekend and put on a good show of it by the sounds of it.

There was minimal enough flapping on whole and I was shocked at how well the units all worked together in general and everyone did their part.

        as per SOP

if they do something similar next year it'll prob be amazing as they now have better idea of how to go about it,

andto be balanced, i'll admit the fat cnut at they end of the vid is one of our soldier X types,
        But there's no danger
        It's a professional career
        Though it could be arranged
With just a word in Mr. Churchill's ear
If you're out of luck you're out of work
We could send you to johannesburg.

I found the PDF side to be a good lot, but the RDF guys to be a mixed bag just in terms of beeing good knowledgeable soldiers. I think I have described them in the past as pen pushers, detached for the reality of syllabus and training. The Pln assesments are a good idea but could be better executed for example.

            I'll second that.

Yeah hopefully it will become an anual thing, don't see why it couldn't be (other then money). Good to see all the kit being issued out and used like PRR's, Kite Sights, Lucies and Sophies. Cav had the ground radar out I hear.

dont know bout the radar i thought that was the AD, but everything else was used, i heard the op's used sophie's on (the bast#rds) us,

though we need to more night training, maybe that can be the focus for next year, as we could see the form up from our position, because it was mid morning ( i know this is because of restrictions on firing)

The Cav CTR'd the position to within about 80m during the night as well.

                      AMLs are IED proof.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Its no longer a "utility" pouch its a respirator haversack.Trust me you dont want that thing fully packed and bouncing all over the place.Better to get a spare waterbottle pouch or utility pouch instead.neater and tidier to.
