  • TV Series featuring Irish Army

    Hi Guys
    We are currently developing a new TV series which will feature a story partly involving some Irish troops in Lebanon in 1996.
    Just wondering if anyone can suggest parts of the country (Ideally in Munster) that could resemble Lebanon, I'm imagining beaches maybe though i believe it can be quite wet there in winter too. Ideally I guess we're interested in hearing ideas from anyone who served over there.

    Cheers

    Beaches?? I think you may have the wrong impression of south lebanon there. It would be more like the mountainy area around dunmanway. kealkil with no green if it is a summer trip.
    I don't know the colors in winter since i did all summer trips.
    Unless of course you are basing the story on the swanners in UNIFIL Hq in Naquora and thats a whole different ball game, you could use Parknasilla Hotel in kerry!!

            Winter or Summer, Ireland is just the wrong colour. You can go to the rockiest part of the country but it will be all wrong.
            The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them: that's the essence of inhumanity.

                On a winter trip to the hills- pick somewhere grey - wet and windy

                I cant remember the sun ever shining or blue skies

                there were no beaches- but Tyre rest home for the chosen few

                or the scotsmans when on a 60 hour

                the Glen probably resembeles it the most- when there is snow on the ground

                and Kilworth or Kilbride can sometime resembe it through heavy rains

                apart from that there is no where I can physcial think of
                Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
                Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
                The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
                The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
                The best lack all conviction, while the worst
                Are full of passionate intensity.

                      What about the Gap Of Dunloe area in Kerry ?

                      From my recollection, parts of that can be rocky
                      "Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"

                        From Connaght Strangers Pics I will say some parts of Tipperary would look similar in winter.
                        I probably am wrong, sorry about that!!!

                        Please PM me to correct me.

                        But, not if I state an opinion, only if I state something as truth!!!

                        I have bad opinions but I stick by them!!!

                          Some more shots, sorry for the quality,

                          time and poor quality printing in 1979 - 1980 have taken there toll.
