They provided a contact number that was never answered, and a website that was down for upgrade.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

What has brought on this new campaign? and does it stand a chance of increasing interest in the Reserve?

              As Goldie stated.

Recruitment in the RDF is done at Unit level. There is no national organisation. Even at Brigade level it is haphazard. It is people on the ground from individual units that do all the work.

The last recruitment campaign bypassed them and put all the emphasis on a national campaign that had no infrastructure to support it - websites and phone no.s didn't work etc. There was no link in to individual units. However many were able to ride in on the national campaign and managed to use the adverts to kickstart sucessful unit campaigns but it was a side effect.

RDFRA put a lot of pressure on the DoD to create one. They submitted ideas as to what should have been done. Things like creating leaflets with a blank space on the back where individual units could put their details and phone no.s. They were trying to put the emphasis back on individual units where, while not ideal, there existed an infrastructure that could be worked on. Even using Bde websites like http://www.1bderdf.com would be a big improvement over what exists on military.ie.

From what I see here, the campaign hasn't got a hope of suceeding. Again, individual units may be able to use their own initiative to get in on the national campaign and try and reach people before they start trying the Official route. The only other chance the campaign has is if they have a whole pile of new websites and infrastructure to roll out in the next few month. Then again, we are talking about the Irish Army and their amazing inability to organise a piss up in a brewery when it comes to the RDF

If they are directed to this site and all units have the correct info up it MAY work:

This has been mentioned several times in the Dail. It will be interesting to see who wins, Cawlea Nea did it as part of the last one in the "Life less Ordinary campaign"
"Are they trying to shoot down the other drone? "

"No, they're trying to fly the tank"

Click on a subunit & then the training tab, it gives to the option to inform the webmaster of that part of the site of incorrect information.

'Advertisments to incorporate both AR & NSR in each advertisement.'

The last RDF tv ads a couple of years ago, had a 2 second clip of a rib. If I didn't know any better I would have seen that and thought...'Wow the Army Reserve have boats..great!'

I hope that this new campaign actually mentions the NSR by name. The NSR needs this campaign way more than the AR. Our commitments have never been higher and our numbers have never been lower.

Nothing special about the NSR there, same across the board.

                              Reserve Unit Locator

                              Believe me Dev,

I have already gone through the channels of accurately reflecting the info for 1 S.Bde RDF on this application, even got hold of the application developer, (not PDF, who gave me all his direction & info), but again, all control lies within. Partially made some success, with the AD Btys in the South, but failed on the HQ. Submissions even made to the source of the advertising info for correction, but to no avail.

So, its best to ignore Military.ie for any attempt at a National Recruitment & Awareness Drive, but will the PR & DF Info cells relinquish the opportunity ?
