  • Uniform/Mess dress for RDF member for wedding.

Does anyone know whether a private reservist may wear a dress uniform when he or she is getting married? RDF do not have No 1's anymore, but if one were able to aquire mess dress, would he or she be allowed to wear it at such an event?

I have read R5, in the paragraphs pertaining to dress but could not see any allowance of wearing such dress in a situation such as this.

Does anyone have any experience/insight to share concerning this?

    Thanks

RDF Do have "number 1s". What do you think the GOH on easter sunday were wearing? Other ranks do not have Mess dress, apart from modified "Number 1s".

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Apologies, I meant ordinary ranks no longer have no 1's. At least that is what I was told. In our unit, there were a number of uniforms that were issued to individuals from the pool. We were recently told that has been disbanded.

Are you saying that reserves are authorised to wear no 1's, assuming you can find one?

Say what. You might want to tell the Captain's GOH (made up entirely of RDF) that was outside the GPO on Easter Sunday that they weren't entitled to be wearing their No1 uniforms. Methinks someone's been telling you porky pies.

I suppose that's why I was issued number ones about 4 months ago hah. Go up to your CQ and get him to fill in the paperwork, get your PDF CO to sign off on it and head over to stores. You're entitled to a *NEW* set, i.e. one issued just to you, after 18 months service.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Ok, so we have established that my information on the issuing of no 1's was incorrect. If I was issued a set of No 1's would I be allowed wear it at my wedding?

An interesting concept. I would like to be clear on the legality of it though. I dont want to be headed into the registry office, to be collared by MP's wanting to know why I am wearing dress uniform at a 'civilian' event.

Can anyone tell me for sure?

to wear your uniform outside of when you should wear your uniform

you need the permission of DCOS SP

this is got by applying through your CO

this is laborousily complicated and they might actually say no

                        or they could say yes

                        your choices are

apply - get refused- or be allowed

dont apply go to the Registery office- get married in your NO 1's and have a great day

you can bet your bollox that there will be no PA's outside anything except a chipper

or extravision to rent the latest CSI Miami

You go to your CQ. You tell your CQ that you would like to be ISSUED a set of No1s from the clothing stores. I wouldn't accept pool issue No1s, you never know what sort of diseased scrote used them last.
