The pre qual for the Cse was that if successful, all candidates would be commissioned into the Army, I suppose this give Aer Corps and Naval Service pers a fresh start away from the small minded people in both Services . See comments by golden rivet!!!!!!!!

my comments are justified and if it is this comment that you regard as small minded i dont care as that nco would have to go to SEA as an officer and this would not be fair on him as he was a fine admin nco for all his service of 30 years shore based and not seagoing..

It was your comment that "he never went to sea anyway" that appeared to have a derogatory tone. The individual involved has had quite a number of years service, I am sure he went to sea at some stage in his career.

Either way I wish him the best in his new career.

But there is no if, which was my point.
Even though he's commissioned to the Army he could transfer to the Navy in a logs role for example. Likewise with the Air Corps for non-pilot officers. This has been done before.

everyone that does not know how the structure of the old naval service has taken my comments up wrong. I joined up with this man in 1978. he went into an admin branch called writers who carry out all naval admin work.he has NEVER been at sea.. with the new structure of the service EVERYONE . has now to go to sea.. so if he came back as a naval officer he would be going to sea for the FIRST time in his career..

I had a granuncle who served with distinction in the NS for 40 or more years and never wen't to sea either as n NCO or Officer..there were no vacancies at sea for ADMIN officers in his time.

Just because you are in the navy doesn't mean the seagoing career path has to be chosen.

Thre have been many fine members who chose this path and will still good srvice men.

Its a bit like the AC not every body fleis but someone has to do the day to day work to keep asmall few flying...

an nobody questions that..why should the NS be any different?
