I've met the officer in question once in a civilian capacity, and my colleagues who would have had more regular dealings with him wouldn't say a bad word about him. An absolute gentleman and clearly capable technically.

Actually if they are "quaklified instructors" they will be permitted to teach the courses. If they can meet the standard required they can have the students qualified and FETAC certs issued.
It is being done in our unit.

Trel did you miss the bit in all the publications about RDF over seas that said candidates "would be asked". So no general advertisement.

I doubt that, not everyone in signals is a radio operator. Do you think that he wasn't well vetted by the 1 CIS staff that he would be working with before the ok was given

Let us take the PDF case. Volunteers for missions are requested and then selected accordingly.

If one does not get the opportunity to apply it is grounds for a redress.

Not if the position is "spacific"
                "Engineer required (type not specified).

Yes, that particular course was by way of preparation for the exercise in
                      question this year, I think

What exactly am I wrong about -
that a position could be "specific"
that there are ways and means to select a person for the job
or that people would not want another bout of "they should recognise our qualifications"

Based on the typical civilian use of SUV-type vehicles, you don't think an ordinary driving licence actually qualifies you to use one, does it?

You are miss understanding the purpose of the post. I was posting in reference to Trels "redress comment". I was not actually commenting on the actual person.
