  • funny thing happened .

Had the pleasure of being xxxx last week and one morning during parade the whole camp got to witness and hear a bunch of lt's being given out to by a capt .

his best line was "your nothing more than jumped up sgts !!!!" which i thought was very disrepectful to sgts, who act have to do some work on camp .

anyway thought you wouldnt get away with that kinda thing anymore , esp when recruits were present ?????

mind you trying to keep a straight face while listening to it all was tough

That's not really funny. It just shows us up as amateurs with a very weak grasp of military roles and structures.

        Absolute gobshite.

The Captain obviously had a bit too much "I'm a tool" juice that morning. Absolutely no need to do something like that in front of Recruits and very unprofessional.

Very bad seeing any rank being humiliated by those above them. Doesn't instill a respect for rank by recruits when they see those who should know better acting in this way.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Not the done thing Old Boy. As I'm sure you are aware. I'm afraid a senior officer needs to have a private chat with yon Captain.

Yes. You never dress down anybody in front his or her subordinates. It's bad for discipline.

It is in A7, they always seem to forget to mention it in lectures, but it says something along the lines of "unless it is necessary".

well the bn c.o. was present , not sure if he heard the exchange tho.

same officer also told a lt that he was not to be associating with the "other ranks" and was to stay with the officers when socialising .

I think in this case it should be a case of name and shame

But then again if the Lieutenants were worthy of the rank in the first place they would have sorted the problem with the means available to them

A lot of the problem is from those who have the right but won't attract the flak knowing people like this will be gone in a few years and their lives will continue without the hassle.

If it was me I would have marched off the square and had it adressed there and then.

My days of taking this shit from anyone are long gone.

Those officers have had their credibility destroyed... kinda ironic.. they left it happen...

Excuse me Sir but you are out of order ...where was the CS? he left it continue....and sergeants on parade left it continue?

If he is left get away with this maybe he has a point..the officers whom he adressed are not worthy of their rank.
Covid 19 is not over ....it's still very real..Hand Hygiene, Social Distancing and Masks.. keep safe

I would have to agree with Murph, if a senior officer spoke to me like that in public he would be in poo up to his or her neck.

It was addressed shortly after the parade with the result that the afore mentioned captain didnt say boo to the platoon commanders for the duration of camp.

Heard that an NCO insturcting on FTT did not know what the cocking piece was called and refered to it in their class as the black thing. A recruit had to tell them what it was.

Another instructor told recruits not to shine or polish their boots as it would damage the leather.
"The Question is not: how far you will take this? The Question is do you possess the constitution to go as far as is needed?"

This is the correct information if the boots involved are HIAX. They come with are tube of dubbin and the instruction booklet says that polish should not be used, just apply the dubbin, rub in and buff off.
Needless to say this is all ignored as you will be bollicked going on duty with dull boots!
