Are you crazy? Why would you want to join general service? Join as an officer cadet or go to college and join as a graduate or engineer.

May not be an option for every one people maynot meet the requirements for the cadets etc, may not have suitable degrees and may see their own career path not to be an officer.

Circumstances may sometimes not allow some to become officers but make fine soldiers in the ranks.

Its not madness or crazy..someone has to be in the enlisted ranks..why not some one who knows their own limitations and wants to excel within the path available to them?

Go for it you want it......whats five years you could do far worse.

            true!
            But there's no danger
            It's a professional career
            Though it could be arranged
With just a word in Mr. Churchill's ear
If you're out of luck you're out of work
We could send you to johannesburg.

And then again, nothing stopping one from applying for the Cadets after enlistment.

There is a points % differential added on to the score for members of the PDF
"Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"

Look at it like this.If you get in, you have a job and a guaranteed income, with the sure chance of an overseas trip and a hell of a lot of variety, for five years.Your wages will rise incrementally every year and you stand a good chance of getting promoted.A lot of civvies would give their mother away to have that chance. All you have to be is reasonably fit, intelligent and willing to work hard and put up and shut up. Worth a punt.
                        regards

I just dont see me doing an officers job day in,day out.Even though the money is good its not everything especially if your not happy.

Thats why i want to go into the ranks and i can always go up into CO ranks.
