He's trying to look cool - don't you know it's physically impossibly to look cool with a red beret on your head? Too bad for him, it's also impossible to look cool with a red beret, or the letters "MP", visible anywhere on your person
He's a Lt General
tell ye what bud.......When you have as many medals as the BROTHER(Thats his 11 service medal) then you can slag him..otherwise STFU!!!!
God forbid the man doesn't follow all dress regulations while he's over there.... Ya better get onto the CoS about all the lads wearing their dri flo's rather than a DPM outer layer while you're at it
You should know better..Do you know what his Tasks are?? That man has more service than you have had hot dinners...You honestly think he doesn't follow DR's??

...Just to let all you know...That man is one of the most experienced Professional Soldiers in this mans Army... So unless you know him .. I would not judge him...........

I think the statement you seek is "do as I say, not as I do".
If a reservist was caught on camera doing the same I can guarantee that people like yourself would be the first in here complaining.
But I guess Dress regulations cease to count once you have a few overseas medals. No wonder the RDF are jumping at the chance to go overseas, so they can all not wear their beret.
At the end of the day though, its a ****ing hat. In my experience, the higher the rank, the worse the beret. I'm surprised Nasher has his at all.
Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

There already doing it, maybe its to get able with wearing flip flops instead of boots
I totally agree, some of the higher ranks I've seen have shocking bad berets
Don't stand there GAWPING, like you've never seen the hand of God BEFORE!!
C.P teams/operators rarely wear headress as it inteferes with peripheral vision. There was
a pic posted in the sunday indo a while back of Gen.Hegartys ARW C.P detail in Kosovo and none of them had headress on.
Heres a few pics of RMP C.P operators at work as examples.
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

I Think Apod Has cleared this Debate up with his post GF.

makes a lot more sense than "my brother is a better man than all of ye, so he can wear what he wants", which was the gist of your posts.
Personally I feel that the wearing of military headgear should be limited to helmets, when operational. Or if the weather permits, Bush hats. That or nothing.
Semi ceremonial headgear has no place in the operational environment.
