The barracks falling under the axe are Longford and Monaghan barracks, and Rockhill House in Letterkenny and Lifford Military Post.
These will be ‘consolidated’ with barracks at Finner in Co Donegal, and Athlone and Dundalk. St Bricins Hospital in Dublin 7, also owned by the Department of Defence, will also be closed.
