Mirror Image was a famous exercise in the Glen.

ORs used get issued with shoes. The issue of shoes is supposed to be halted to offset the cost of the issue of Peak Caps etc.

          1.
Wouldn't think it would be a runner on cost grounds

          2.
Medals - if the Q / Cadre staff are doing their job correctly, the appropriate AF will be
submitted in a timely manner (think its April of the year ?) to ensure issue of medals / bars

          3.
Shoes - our lads DID get issued shoes on a limited basis when driving saloons during the
World Special Olympics - but again, cost. How often do we wear SD No 1 these days ?

          4.
          ????

          5.
Wouldn't imagine that there ever will be a WO position in the NSR.

          (a)
due to the limited establishment number in the NSR

          (b)
in the PDF, the WO rank is an administrative shore based position, not part of a ship's
          crew

          6.
          LSB not properly formed up.
          - probably never will be. For instance, who wants to go to Camp Staff and spend their
weekends scrubbing pots, etc., when they could be picking up a more useful medical
or driving qual, as appropriate. Rumour has it that this element of the LSB is getting the
heave in the New Year - anyone else hear this ?

          7.
No Air Corps Reserve. Now this baffles me, in that there would, I'm sure, be suitably
qualified people in Civvy Street who would love a crack at this....

          8.
          No Equestrian Reserve
          - no point, due to the limited size of the Equitation School

          9.
Yes, the former 10 Inf Bn had a Pipe Band - there was a feature in An Cosantóir a few years
          ago on it

The current rumour is that RLSB is to be wound up.
medic coys to parade in local area but be made part of the Currah hospital strength.
Tpt coys to parade locally but to be part of TVMS or Tpt coy of local inf batallion. Whichever is more practical within the Bde.

                but who knows??????????????

there was an Air Corps Reserve for many years and it was a joke. All the ex-pilots and techies came back for two weeks in the summer and had a big lark, officially getting their "military skills" back up to speed, ie, whizzing around at low-level in a Fouga after having spent years in a 737 cockpit. Some came back in uniform but most just schlepped around in overalls, with beards and bellies and deep pockets to accept furtive CVs from the lads.Eventually, the employers got fed up of funding two weeks of sponsored dossing and had a word with the Minister....

What happened to RDF organisation is now a mirror image of PDF?

Why not have corps concentrations instead?

well actually that is the idea.
The Inf Bns should have a tpt coy. They effectively don't.
Should there be medica attached to an Inf Bn? I don't know.
The RLSB should have a Camp Coy. It effectively doesn't

And so the decision has to be made as to what will be the closest to the mirror. Current thinking is that RLSB just does not work.

Why not have corps concentrations instead?
Thats one of the ideas. The 3 tpt coys woll come under TVMS. This would make some sence considering the amount of driver specific training that is done in relation to other training.
