Hedgie,
Are you so naive as to suppose that journalistsand newspapers actually investigate things or write the truth. They sell advertising space, and the indo in particular is in desperate straights, mostly because so few people actually buy newspapers these days. The government spend a lot on advertising, therefore the indo needs to curry favour with them.
In reality that foot soldiers in the civil service are taking the brunt of the hate being fostered in the media by a government who failed to take action during the good years.
As for the Irish times being a good paper, the only papers in the english speaking world worth reading are the FT and Economist and Wall Street Journal.
