  • Annual camp, manday restrictions & recruiting from now on (MOD edit)

There are 12 recruits in my unit(eastern brigade,I'll leave it at that) and the c/s recently informed us that currently only 10 can go to camp as there are not enough places and that they are working to resolve this.It seems to me a bit absurd that they took on mire recruits than they can train.has anyone had experience of this?

    I wouldn't worry too much.
By time annual FTT comes about you willprobably have only 6 anyway.

And yes it happens all the time as far as I can see.

Natural wastage and competition for places seems to have been factored in at an early stage it would seem.

It was how things worked in the good old days when mandays were limited. Due to the current economic climate ( I love that term) the RDf could be returning to this type of situation again.

First time I've ever heard of this (in 10 years service) especially this early in the year!

If it is true, everyone should make sure they get their applications in.

We have all been sworn in and issued with our numbers and a very basic set of clothing!

unless they've only been authorized x mandays for an easter camp, although I haven't heard of any restrictions but then it takes time to percolate down [ forever in some cases ]

hypothetically speaking, a rumour like this would encourage good attendance among recruits in the lead up to camp.

The 1 week a fear days of the 80's will be returning soon or maybe they may use the Ecconomic situation to try and scrap us altogether

Yes, last year there weren't enough places in Bere Island for recruits - so we ran our own training

Politics - we wear S or E Bde badges and our admin, career courses etc etc are run through the same but when there's too many recruits, suddenly we're DFTC. I don't know what happened last year to with other units but we had our own in the Naval Base, maybe other recruits weren't as lucky and missed out.
