RDF Bebo sites

A friend came across a page on bebo belonging to 3AD and he hit the roof. Called it every name under the sun.

I personally couldn't see what the problem was. I think this page is fairly well done and put together.

I was wondering what the opinion of everyone else is in regards to the RDF using bebo to publicise the organisation. And what other examples of it are out there- good and bad?
Is it a new phenomenon or has it been about for a while?

Not a big fan of them myself, generally tacky and filled with pics of bad Procedure. Personally I used to have pics of my RDF stuff on my Bebo, but as soon as my BS told us to take them down, they were off. Don't see the point anyway, if I have any pictures to share I will print them and put them up on the Unit Message Board, or give them to whoever wants them.

There are good ones, but then there are also terrible one's.

I remember seeing one profile of some Unit, where the Profile pic was that of a girl, not bad looking, but a shitload of makeup on while in uniform, and I am not talking conservative makeup. I mean she had Purple Eyeliner, Pink Lipstick. I mean, everyone knows you don't mix purple and pink.

Generally alot of the pics used on the Bebo sites are actually released Pics. But then you get retards, like the girl in one of the photo's on the link Joshua gave, who want to camwhore in Uniform.


I wouldn't mind so much, and I doubt Director of PR would, if people weren't acting the retard in these pictures, but they tend to do so.

Looks official and decent enough until you see RIRA daubed all over it. RDF (and to be fair, PDF) Bebo pages look like absolute muck, I haven't seen a good one yet, and they don't give a good impression of the Defence Forces.

Not really, I have seen some idiot "corporals" doing the same thing, generally they all follow the same pattern. In the "Me, myself and I" it will say something like "I'm a corpral in da RDF(FCÁ for ye hu dont no), it's da best evar, get paid to get pissed lol, Come on da *insert relevant unit*"

Then you have the stupid Camwhores, the people who post pictures of the doing stupid stuff with weapons. and My Personal favourite (sarcasm), the RDF bods who have videos of the ARW on their Flashbox, and Pictures of them on their Profile Pic.

On the whole I have to agree and have ignored all thise types of pages.
BUT
I have seen one, done to high quality, a good reflection of the unit and a useful means of conveying to potential recruits what the RDF and this particular unit would be about.

Yeah? What unit was it?
That's kind of what I was asking. I think that the one I saw was used for recruitment, and I thought it was fine.

I have heard that this bebo thing is a bane and so on, but I don't think its something bad at all. Provoding that it is being done properly, which was what I saw from the site I mentioned. Are there any other sites out there too worthy of a mention?

Well, judging by the example of the RDF website, I wouldn't hold my breath or put any faith in the Director of PR doing anything to promote the RDF.

I think it is about time people began publicising and recruiting for their units, because there is no advertising done by the Department of Defence for the reserves.
And what little is done is not good enough.

What do other people think?
This is just my opinion on this, and I would like to hear other people's arguments on it.
Both for/against even...
