There still, however, remains some uncertainty around the future of around 200 Sgt's, who are also subject to the post-94 contracts. Mr Coveney said a decision on them will be finalised following further discussions with DPERS and the Representative Association

PDFORRA statement on Twitter. There seems to be more to do yet.
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

    • Delighted to see some movement. The detail will be interesting. Im guessing some are still going to go, they still need to pass IT and med, thats probably one of the reasons some are still at a lower rank.

If they don’t pass they will be discharged under the current contracts afaik

Wouldn't surprise me if other hurdles were added to make it more difficult.

It's a different Army than that of three decades ago with strict fitness and medical requirements for reengagement. Plus the Army is suffering from a retention crisis and a brain drain.

Trust the PR branch to sow confusion not stating that this only applies to the 1994 to 2004 contracts. The post 04 timebomb is ticking away.

That's a ridiculous comment. IT's and medical requirements grades are the same regardless of rank and both must be passed annually.

                At least three years.
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.
