Hikers rescued from Glen of Imaal Army Artillery Range
Tuesday April 14 2009
Mountain rescue personnel and members of the Defence Forces have guided three hikers to safety this afternoon after they strayed into the 'Impact Zone' in the Glen of Imaal Army Artillery Range.
The man and two women, who are all in their thirties, became lost while attempting to scale Wicklow's highest mountain, Lugnaquilla.
They were found cold, but uninjured and in good spirits.
It seems that peoples behaviour has not changed over the years, I did my NCO’S course in 1976 and I have unhappy memories or been sent up the Lug as part of a search party for come lost hikers. It was a Sunday and we were only in bed about 2 hours after a pln in def dig in that had started on Fri. All civvies were found safely but we were still up for a normal day on the Mon ie. PT run at 0700. Anyone else had a similar expirence?
