Apparently its an open event for charity once a yr.

I'm in the early stages of planning a 40 mile hike in the nature of the SAS selection phase called the 'Long Drag' (see here for wiki details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Drag).

The 40 miles has to be completed in less than 20 hours and carrying a pack that weighs 55lbs. It's through the Brecon Beacons and from what I understand may take in Pen y Fan on the way.

    Long Drag

The Long Drag is a slang term referring to the event that is the culmination of the Fitness and Navigation phase of UK Special Forces Selection and the Pathfinder Platoon cadre[citation needed] . The event is also known simply as Endurance. It is a 40 mile hike over the Brecon Beacons of Wales. Candidates carry a pack that weighs 55 lbs, not including water, food or rifle, and they must complete the route in less than 20 hours. The candidates cannot use trails and all navigation is done by map, compass and memorized grid references. The event is made harder because the candidates are already exhausted by the previous four weeks' marches and runs.[1]

Fair play lads! Good example to be setting!

Was planning on going with a team myself this year but it didn't work out due to work committments. Would be interested in going next year.

    Nobody except for you.

Fair play to those lads. I am sure that they did a good job. And they completed something that is physically demanding and has a tradition of pushing those who go for it.

So once again, well done to all those involved.
