...anyone going up to it in Finner? A few of the 58th res are heading down.
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

    Finner??

To see an Obsolete WW2 vintage automatic rifle fire its last obsolete 19th century vintage ammunition?
    I'll Pass thanks.

Grand for the folk up north but finner isn't exactly convenient for the rest of the country.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Maybe the Enfield is still in service in Donegal :D
I'm thinking it retired in the rest of Ireland in 1992, while the FN retired in 2002

Give it time Keef and they will be in the same shit state as most of the rest of the GPMG's in the army and an absolute nightmare to clean. All weapons, but especially GPMG's should be cleaned a second time, 48 hours after the first cleaning. Most weapons sweat after being left lightly oiled after cleaning.

I tend to sweat myself after being lightly oiled. Especially after cider

Lightly oiled..like ****..to put it in perspective Its akin to being dipped in crude oil and the sweating like arapist in court!,

In realtion to weapons the amount of oil required is that akin to oiling a 14inch naval gun!

Since the Bren is still in service we could assume that the Brown Bess musket still is too.
