Most of the time I think it would do wonders for the image of the DF if all the little half man half monkeys were not allowed to wander the streets in uniform, a little investment in lockers could have big payout.

For any unit that collect people, changing into uniform when reaching barracks would slow things up even futher, its bad enough when the transit is late!

i allways arrive in uniform, only the rare time have i brought my uniform in with me and changed in the barracks!

lockers would not be a good idea! being that your uniform has to be spick and span when would you have time to do it? i cant picture a plt of pte's comming in an hour early with their irons in one hand and parrade gloss in the other, plus in the barracks im stationed the only place to do that is on the 3rd floor toilets.... and that's if their open!!

Yes. Not least, it really pisses off the people with peace stickers on their cars when I pull up next to them and wave..

I've seen a lot of the E bde units operating a system of changing in Bks. It does elliminate the problems of having 'wandering jews in the desert' floating around and attracting attention on the street.
Personally I arrive in uniform except when I was coming straight from college. One would often find that they had forgotten something though - hair go-go's or a beret !!! :( D'oh

I work shifts most of the time, so I would tend to bring the uniform with me in the car, get into barracks early, and wash and change there. When the shifts suit, i.e; when I would be OFF on parade days, then, yes, I would travel to Bks in uniform.
As in Earhart's case, I used to be in a similar situation in college also.

Can recall going up one night for a CO's inspection in No.1 dress uniform in the bag.
Imagine my horror when I discovered that although I had a left and a right boot in the bag, they were from two different pairs !!! Got away with it in the dim light, or else he DID notice, but didn't say...

I used to but got sick of the "are you goin to Iraq?" comments - anybody else get them?

Besides which in the area I'm from the uniform attracts too much attention from those who's attention is best avoided
