The IDF vest is top notch!! Perfectly positioned pockets, well padded and come in various different load outs. http://www.zahal.org/gear/p20.htm It even has the handy dandy mini waterproof transparent pocket that folds open to display orders / tac aid pages.

I've used mine for ages and no problems. Well the fact that not allowed wear them anymore as we finally got issued PLCE...Boooooo (kinda)

and check this out - for ALL of my career i have used an original Irish DF helmet (the Israeli type) - even in Iraq!

i even got hold of a few more for my mates when we were in Northern Ireland because they were a better shape than ours and i personally hate the helmet inner on the Mk6/Mk6A British helmet.

i might switch to the new Mk7 though - we just haven't been issued it yet.

Velcro on pouches has been around for years - even early 90's PLCE had it as standard.

On MOLLE systems it's personal preference but it's about 50 / 50 between velcro and clip fasteners.

mag / grenade pouches are ideal in velcro but for anything else clips are the way forward.

    just my observations / opinions.

usually only ID patches / Blood Tags are secured on velcro.

That pointman gear does look good alright.

Only thing i'll say is make sure you get one with a buckle closure rather then a zip.

Zip ones leave you no room to vent after a while.

Stop now Hedgie, otherwise we'll be stuck in a loop with these velcro jokes!
