By the way, there is no "CIT allowance" the only thing while on CIT you can claim is sub and it works out at about 20 quid, maybe a bit more.
Your lucky you are still getting a sub.
We get sandwichs made the day before by the cooks so they dont have to pay us a sub.
It wont be long untill all units will be doing the same and sub money goes.
Soldiers' body to disobey order
Wednesday, 7 October 2009 12:25
The General Secretary of PDFORRA has said it cannot comply with the insistence of the Department of Defence that it should not campaign on pay issues.
Gerry Rooney was speaking at the group's annual conference in Tullow, Co Carlow.
However, the Minister for Defence, Willie O'Dea, said that PDFORRA must operate within agreed procedures, which forbid the association with trade unions or other bodies.
AdvertisementPDFORRA has been ordered by the department to break their links with the 24/7 Frontline Service Alliance of public servants, which has been set up to fight Government cutbacks.
Separately, the Permanent Defence Force Other Ranks Representative Association has also proposed that the murder of a member of the Defence Forces should carry a minimum jail term of 40 years.
PDFORRA said all troops should get the same protection under the law as gardaí and prison officers.
The Criminal Justice Act of 1990 provides for mandatory 40-year sentences for the murder of a garda, a prison officer or a member of the Defence Forces operating in Portlaoise Prison or carrying out prisoner escort duties.
But PDFORRA wants the law to cover all soldiers who are assisting gardaí in their work.
Mr Rooney said the threat from political splinter groups and well-armed criminals is very real and as members of the Defence Forces can be targets they must have the same legal protection
Oops!
Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

In fairness, many employees in civvy street bring a packed lunch to work with them
By the same token, companies do give a lunch allowance to employees whose job
keeps them on the road, where a canteen is normally provided at home base, just
like the DF - but I have no idea how the two allowances compare together
Where I work (my company is contracted on location to the customer in question),
the customer axed the canteen price subsidy for contractor employees while at the
same time, leaving them in place for their own employees, i.e; a two tiered
pricing system
Caused murder at the time, but the net result has been that the crowd that run the
canteen have lost a fortune, as a lot of contractors now bring their own lunches,
compared to previous
"Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"
