      News to me.AFAIK we dont get any money,but can be called up pretty much anytime.
      "Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

        every september any unit with FLR on their strength is supposed to get a form filled out by those pers and witnessed by the gardai stating they are still at their given address and available for call up. once returned the form is sent to brigade (afair) and they can authorise a grat payment .

        spent 6 years on the FLR and thats how it was for me anyway
        Anyone need a spleen ?

            are those figures correct

            and where did you get them from

            210 get 210,0000

            222 get 7,000

            a bit suspect
            Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
            Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
            The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
            The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
            The best lack all conviction, while the worst

              Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
              Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
              Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
              Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

                1 too many 0s on that

                officers should read 210,000 (€ 1,000 each)
                Other ranks (€31 each)

                  So the FLR has nearly as many officers as other ranks - and the officers get over 32 times the gratuity that the other ranks do. Is there really a need to have so many officers in the first line reserve?

                      If you've ever worked in consulting you'd know that the first rule is management is to protect your own intrests and let the others go and hang.

                      Nobody I'm sure begrudges the OR their 31 euro a year, but it seems that every officer who ever served in the FLR?. Still its a nice little earner for retired oficers, to add to the pension.

                        Well according to DeV in another post they get 300 euro... not 1000 euro. I tried to look for the figures myself, wasn't sure what I found, but when I divided it by the number beside it I got the 300ish figure... I seriously seriously doubt they get 1000 euro....

                              That is assuming that all other ranks get the same no matter what their rank.

                                Sorry to drag an old thread back up again guys but I have been on the FLR for the last few years and did not realise that I was possibly entitled to a gratuity each year. I certainly never received one anyway.

                                Is it worth my while chasing this up now? Who would I have to even contact, would it be the pay section in Renmore?
