5% on income under 30,000
7.5% on income between 30,001 and 70,000
10% on income between 70,001 and 125,000
You're going to have to earn 100,000 to have a pay cut of 7.5%.
By your own figures you've stated that if you earn between 30k and 70k you will get taxed 7.5%. Most Cpl's I know would earn just above 30 k. Therefore unless I'm missing something they will get a 7.5% cut.

They'll be cutting another 4 billion next year so we can anticipate another pay cut then.
Just heard Lenihan on the radio saying "ah no, it's actually only 2 billion now" - just timed after the budget tp give a bit of 'good news'. They probably ****ed up the figures anyway like they did with all the estimates on the tax take etc. and will have to cut more than 4 billion.
If your salary is 32,000, you get a cut of 5% on the first 30,000 and 7.5% of the extra 2,000, so therefore your new salary is 28,500 + 1,850 = 30,350, which is a 5.2% paycut.
Get you now.
