  • A quick question about No.1's

How many items make up the No.1 dress uniform in the army? i.e shirt etc.

  • #2
    Depends mate

    Shiny new shoes
    Trousers
    belt
    jocks
    shirt
    tie
    Tunic
    Peaker
    Lanyard
    Collar Badges
    Name badge
    Medals

I think thats that- but as always I am open to correction

It depends on what you count. If its just clothing its Shirt Trousers Tie Tunic. But then theres collar badges unit and brigade flashes rank markings and lanyards. Thats for RDF personell

Same as suits usually. Chest and length for tunic, Waist for trousers.

Why do you need to know? Just wondering so we can give you the answer you need.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Any tips on buffing the linkers? :P
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

                  No harm in asking Snip

they are a shite uniform- when wet they smell and get very heavy

when warm they scratch your hoop and scrape your thighs

Some people look great in them no matter what - whereas Louis COpeland could have dressed me

in mine and I would stil look shite-

they come in sizes not batches- by that I mean you may get a tunic built 3 years ago in ballina

and a pair of strides built this year in enniscorthy

the thread and dye would be very different hence the 2 tone look.

The UN whites were the really guichhi uniform- we wore them all the time in Cyprus

even Groundhog would look well in the UN whites

Somewhere in my brothers attic in Ireland, in mothballs, is a F.C.A. period Bulls-Wool overcoat which is part of my militara collection I have yet to transfer over to Transylvania.Even dry the damn thing was heavy, hate to think what it would have felt like soaking wet!!
