The question begs, how long more wil this continue? I know my unit recently ended use of a number of rented properties, as did units in Kerry, and Cork.
Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.
Can you check that link? I'm finding the National Drugs Strategy.
If you look at question/answer 610 [ on the link inquestion] you may well find what you are after
It may look like this
Departmental Property.
610. Deputy Seán Connick asked the Minister for Defence the number of buildings his Department are renting within the State; the rental costs of these rentals in 2009; the average length of the leases of these buildings; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12285/10]
The Taoiseach and Minister for Defence (Deputy Brian Cowen): The premises leased by my Department for use by the Reserve Defence Forces are outlined in the tabular statement. Rents paid for these premises are based on a number of factors including size, location and quality of the facilities and vary considerably. Information on the leases and individual rents paid in respect of these premises is commercially sensitive and therefore not available. However, the requirements of the RDF are reviewed annually and every effort is made on an ongoing basis to reduce costs. In this connection, expenditure by my Department on such facilities reduced from €196,128 in 2006 down to €140,479 in 2008 and €92,500 for 2009. Reserve Defence Forces –

Well in the case for Carlow i would doubt if 2 of those locations are used too regularly. Anyway Carlows only 30 min from Kilkenny bks so why not move everything down there ?
The Offaly locations are listed as being E Bde, when they are W Bde
"Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"
The locations are as given in an answer given in the Dail - It must have been prepare by someone in the Departmet of Defence!!!
That is a scary thought then, given the current debate on public service productivity, etc etc
