its a good idea but clear mags would make more sense? Don't they make them in STANAG?I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.
In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Looks mechanical.
My guess is there is a "tape" attached to the platform and as it moves up when rounds are fired, it pulls the tape up with it."The Question is not: how far you will take this? The Question is do you possess the constitution to go as far as is needed?"

i guess they're easier to spot than the steyr mags but the steyr mags have numbers on them if im not mistaken? or marks of some kind? maybe they could be darker and easier to spot...I knew a simple soldier boy.....

It's says their for a M16/M4 so they should be STANAG compatible.
As for Translucent STANAG magazines:
(That was posted by California Tanker in the "Time to replace the Steyr or should we just shut up whinging?" thread)

Actually I was on about that pictured amurph, cheers, i knew id seen it before!!
i know some of the mag is inside the weapon but its not that much and by then surely you'd be near the red mark on the other mags in that link?
that said, they're very clear and visibility shouldnt be too much of a problem if you have to check quick fastI knew a simple soldier boy.....

When you're low the mag in question only tells you if you have between 10 and 0.
If you have more than 10 rounds in a translucent mag then it will be enough to see them out past the mag well. If you have less then 10 then you shouldn't be able to see any because there's not enough to come out past the mag well.
So whats the advantage? The round counter only gives you a rough estimate. A translucent mag allows you to see exactly what you have.
You know you have less than 10 if you can't see them but if you want to know exactly how much you have you can always take out a translucent mag and count them. With the round counter it will always just tell you that you have less than 10 and thats it.Last edited by spaceghetti; 11 June 2010, 00:33.

I didn't see that. I only read the stats. I thought it worked by just changing color to give you a rough estimate.
Still though, with Steyr magazines if you can't see any rounds coming out of the mag well then it would mean you have less then 8 left. If you have that little left you know you need to change anyways.
