The fitness test is the last stage of the initial screening process. You'll have weeded out a lot before the fitness test. And it is a minimum standard for CIVILIANS.

"Must have obtained a recognised degree i.e. a Third Level Degree awarded up to the end of 2004. With effect from 2005 have successfully completed an Honours Bachelor Degree programme at pass or honours level (level 8 of the National Framework of Qualifications)"

Im doing a 4 year course but I can leave after three with a BSc(Pass). Would that satisfy this requirement?

In fairness the time for the run has been extended

No, it has to be a level 8 degree (ie BSc(Hons).)

Not really,

fire men have a very physically demanding and dangerous job and do need very high levels of fitness.

Amry officers are essentially mangers, many of them spend all day working in an office.
