Thanks but you're about 17 hours late with that breaking news!

Boomer posted it up last night

I'd imagine that they will be inundated with applications this year.

The fitness test is the last stage of the initial screening process. You'll have weeded out a lot before the fitness test. And it is a minimum standard for CIVILIANS.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

"Must have obtained a recognised degree i.e. a Third Level Degree awarded up to the end of 2004. With effect from 2005 have successfully completed an Honours Bachelor Degree programme at pass or honours level (level 8 of the National Framework of Qualifications)"

Im doing a 4 year course but I can leave after three with a BSc(Pass). Would that satisfy this requirement?

In fairness the time for the run has been extended

No, it has to be a level 8 degree (ie BSc(Hons).)

This is part of the initial screening process for Civilians going for a Commission in the RM.

And thats just day one of three!

Their educational requirements are about the same too.

Its interesting to see that while the educational requirements for the Fire Service are lower, the medical and fitness standards are higher.

                              Not really,

fire men have a very physically demanding and dangerous job and do need very high levels of fitness.

Amry officers are essentially mangers, many of them spend all day working in an office.
