Interesting one. I would imagine he would stay AC but the current AC rank markings only go up as far as Brig Gen (http://www.military.ie/aircorps/unif...orpsposter.pdf). Bar and a Half would be the accepted rank marking for that level.(OF-7). They seem to follow the RAF style, so the rank of Air Vice Marshall would be similar.

He was in the Naval Base today for the Commissioning Ceremony. Hopefully photos of the event will tell all.

He was wearing blue and it looks like a new rank marking has been created. On his sleeve was the solid large white band with a seperate white stripe above it. I have just checked military.ie and the brigadier general Air Corps rank marking looks like it is just the large solid white band.Comment
