He is a top bloke
he is not averse to going on the ground with the troops
and he is not afraid to get his feet wetThings fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

I remember reading about a Royal Navy chaplain who was getting posted to the Royal Marines & who went on the All Arms course. The tests call for candidates to carry a rifle, but chaplains don't carry so he had some fitter knock up a crozier the same weight & length as the SLR."The dolphins were monkeys that didn't like the land, walked back to the water, went back from the sand."

Really?? I have seen it but can't remember it, been a while. I got the impression they stayed in barracks or camp, but I stand corrected. Fair play to them for doing thatCovid 19 is not over ....it's still very real..Hand Hygiene, Social Distancing and Masks.. keep safe

They do a short course in the DFTC (I think it is the one for DE officers). They don't carry weapons.
there were a few Priests and various DE's
I know one of the lads who trained him.
There was also a Priest who was in the work experience version of the seminary
and they put him in with a recruit platoon- he did the whole recruit/3 star training.
Some of the God botherers are really really good
while some would attend the offical opening of an email in dress uniform.
and that lad is a miserable bollixThings fall apart; the centre cannot hold;

i even had one dug-in with me at the end of the runway in the Falkland Islands - praying for each Tornado as it approached for landing, and in Bosnia the padre managed to shepherd the Fijians together to form a choir who later went on to represent the Army in some competition in the UK.
they are usually very funny and eccentric blokes of great character. the more military training they do the better in my opinion. let them get stuck in to what we get stuck into.
fair play to the Irish DF chaplain / padre in the pic, his uniform also looks Gucci.

:D
That was a class bit in the filmI knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.
In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Eoin the Padre is a really good genuine bloke,
and your right to bring something you consider odd to the surface
after all the DF whether its PDF or RDF is going to be your DF
