      Thats the one.
Why is a bishop been "handed over" a guard of honour and why is he inspecting it??

Why? (not being anti-religionist, just curious.) Does it apply to CoI bishops as well?

Well it's bloody wells daft, and should not happen particularly given their stance on the scandals it that organisation.

They are elected by the people, clergy on the other hand are not.

Im in agreement with steyrfan but even if the church was in good standing, they should not get any sort of goh or ceremonial duty done by the df for them

I'd agree but the DFR would have been written in a different time.

Regardless of the circumstances, it is very different to decide that protocol now excludes certain members of the community it once included in ceremonial entitlements.
Unless that person is GUILTY of a crime within the state, there is no justification for withdrawing the rendering of honours.

I remember in past years units refused to give an eyes right when passing reviewing stands on Paddys day parades if it was known that a SF councillor or TD would be on the reviewing stand. However the honour is rendered to the office rather than the person
