    No the bren is :P
    But there's no danger
    It's a professional career
    Though it could be arranged
With just a word in Mr. Churchill's ear
If you're out of luck you're out of work
We could send you to johannesburg.

Is there a reason why the vast majority of Russian stuff feeds from the right and ejects to the left? Seems a little awkward seeing as 90% of the world are right handed.

The PKM weighs a couple of kilos less than the Bren. Why do say it's an MMG?

If the internet had been around fifty-sixty years ago, I wonder if there would have been Old Sweats of Kitchener's posting that "This newfangled Bren is a load of rubbish, give me a Lewis Gun any day"?

'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
                    Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

Machine guns are a cowards weapon. A real man would give them the cold steel!

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Personally i would class the PKM as a GPMG while the bren was a true LMG.
the DP, RPD, RPK are truer soviet LMGs

Interesting video though looks like a very decent MG but one could expect nothing less from the soviet small arms industry .

GPMG - no contest, the FN 7.62mm GPMG

LMG - would have to say that the former German Army MG42 would have to
be up there and have the edge over the Bren, in that being belt fed, it didn't
have the Bren's 30 round stoppage issue....

In more modern times, again FN, with the Minimi, can be belt of box fed and
can be chambered for 5.56mm or 7.62mm, for that extra punch, unless I am
                          sorely mistaken....
"Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"

id class a mg42 (mg 3) as the creator of the GPMG concept , belt fed air cooled sustained fire with quick barrel change , and capable of being used on a tripod or bipod and replaced the water cooled MG08 of ww1 vintage at company level .

the vickers survived in service with the British because the Bren was a LMG ,
