  • Boot Camp

Have a look at p24 of today's Daily Mail. Can't seem to find a link to the website.

Basicly, a PDF BSM is running a boot camp in Letterkenny.
    I'm not a number, I'm a free man.
    Who is number 1?

AFIK there is one run in the Phoenix park too. I thought you woul have come across it while walking the dog. Funny how it can't be done for the RDF.

Hey, that's the army supply chain's fault, not ours
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

why would an RSM run a FITNESS boot camp?

              that's what PTI's are for.

A bsm in the curragh had a similar gig going a few years ago. He used to bring people out for a run and call it battle pt.

It's not a fitness boot camp, its part of the 'How we remember exhibition' being held in the county Museum. The exhibition looks at the role of the 28 Inf Bn and the 24 Inf Bn (FCA) during the troubles. AFAIK the BSM is merely giving demonstrations on ironing without using an iron, polishing shoes and tying a knot in a tie.

Surely the BSM has better things to do than run happy husbands course.......
                    But there's no danger
                    It's a professional career
                    Though it could be arranged
With just a word in Mr. Churchill's ear
If you're out of luck you're out of work
We could send you to johannesburg.

I think its a good idea, one my missus could attend to learn how to iron! I think its a good bit of PR, and a chance to give something back to the community, in the form of a few simple skills.

I read about it in the Indo yesterday.... it isn't a fitness boat camp, it is a how to take care of yourself young man boot camp (eg polishing shoes etc).
