Has been good for me in the past. Why?
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Unfortunately that's sometimes true even in an operational environment. We had cell phones as part of our comms plan in Afg. We actually used them during an attack as the units were so close we couldn't get steady comms on our radios (that and all the other comms interference).
There may be only one time in your life when your country will call upon you and you will be the only one who can do the nasty job that has to be done -- do it or forever after there will be the taste of ashes in your mouth.
