Plates was 34th Bn with 32th Bn 2nd
      Rifle was 34th First (722) with 33rd Bn 2nd (657)
Rifle ind was a Pte from 34th on a score of 141, 2nd was an Lt from 58th Bn and 3rd was Pte from 33rd

Cant remember the pistol or GPMG result.

Good weekend, weather was shit, accommodation was nice but cold, organisation was generally very good and bods running it both PDF and RDF very professional and friendly. Bit of a stewards inquiry on the GPMG until the mistake was realised and scored rectified. BBQ was very welcome on the sat!

Have to say fair play to the PDF for putting on a great showcase of weapons and equipment on the sunday. Highlight of which had to be the new fitted out FN thats going into service as the sniper spotters rifle. Its sex on a bipod!!

Now that the FN is back in service, is it too early to suggest it be returned to service for drill purposes also????

        Too early?

Was a good weekend. The West did quite well again with the 58th winning team GPMG and (I think) second in the GPMG. Don't know any of the other results. Was a big effort by all involved up here, both PDF and RDF. Was good seeing the positive feedback from the other units though I didn't get to see many of the displays as I was busy keeping everyone safe There was a bit of a cock up on the pistol range on the saturday (nothing security related, was a challenge to the score) but aside from that, the whole week (we were in from wednesday) went pretty well I feel. Those LTAV's are pretty gucci too
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

As far as i could ascertain ord corps did the work, amazing job on it. The seem to have gone though a test phase trying different components to see what worked and the finished product is stunning. Cheaper then new rifles and by the sounds of it just as good.

We know well there was hundreds, if not thousands of nearly new FNs that went into storage back when the Steyr was introduced.

I look forward to seeing novices with black eyes again.

Pistol 54 RAR, GPMG 58 Bn, Rifle and Plates 34th.

Have a funny feeling shooting will improve greatly in 32bn as I met an old friend in Finner at the weekend. Their new training/admin officer. The only man I know with all army titles with 3 different batts!!

East what is wrong with ye? Nothing of note from any unit with a six at the start of their name.

                        Gosh how terrible.
No seriously a couple of our lads were there and I know they practiced their hearts out. They will be devistated.

There isn't the same emphasis on competition shooting in the East, the emphasis is generally on all the other aspects of training.
