Not sure about Galway, but there is a crowd in Dublin that does them...Silverstitch? Go to their website and click on the "contact" section, it shows name tags there. I'm sure they'll post em. Not sure about prices thoughI knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.
In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Silverstitch are 3 for €16.
Or you could go to this guy:
http://cgi.ebay.ie/Irish-Defence-For...#ht_1234wt_906
5 tags at €5 each (€25). He'll do 5 different names if you want, so you can split an order between people. Got mine delivered free of charge the day after I ordered. Order early in the day and he'll stick them in the post before the last post goes. Very friendly and polite. He doesn't do rank markings though.
Also, ask your Q beforehand about it, sell him the idea, and get reimbursed for it.Aut viam inveniam aut faciam.

and SHOULD be readily available
Chances are that it's the CQMS is the bloody problem, not doing his job
properly
Make a record of all the times you've asked the CQMS about this, then if there
is no resolution, then you would be perfectly entitled to go to the next rung on the
chain... bloody ridiculous it would have to go to this extent for a name tag, though"Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"

Agree with TD. You should not have to pay for these.I knew a simple soldier boy.....

My last CQMS had a novel solution. Because the ordering process was so slow, many of those that had ordered nametags would have left the RDF by the time the tags arrived. He would retain the nametags, and issue the nametag to those without for inspections etc where nametags were required.
As long as nobody called you by your nametag name, and wondered why you ignored them, there would be no issue.
Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

I remember doing a guard of honour for a former Chief of Staff (Sreenan), one of the guard had no name tags and was only recently finished their 2* training. So the person gets a lend of name tags and 3* rank markings.
Murphys Law dictated that the only person he stopped to talk to was the 2*. The professional way in which the person lied through their teeth still makes me smile.
Chief "so private murphy, how long have you served", Private Murphy "6 years sir". Chief "do you enjoy it, what type of courses have you done?" Murphy "advanced tactics, 81 LBLM and 84mm A/Tank, thinking of applying for the NCO's course next year sir"
Not bad for someone who was only doing their third week of FTT, back in the days when 6 or 7 weeks were possible.
