Was wathcing a film over the weekend Platoon to be exact, so good I watch it every now and again, and it got me thinking. I see in most war movies or any programme on ther army in the U.S everyone has dogtags, and it got me thinking does our defence forces not issue dogtags to everyone? I think they get them/got them for overseas deployments, so why not give them to everyone? Any thoughts?

Everyone has them. They're kept at Unit HQ in your personal file until you go overseas. Replacement cost €24 a set.sigpic

Euro$24 a set....!!!!!!!!!!
That's a bit steep.
I'd be willing to supply the Irish Defence Forces with brand new dog-tags for the whole Regular DF, the whole FCA and ASM for US$10 a set.
And I'd be cleaning up at that price too.
FMolloy, you know what to do .....!!!!:DNo-one, I think, is in my tree...

No wonder the DoF doesn't want to send the reserves overseas...E28,800 thats a whole lot of investment when you need to pay for all those luxury chocolates and event centres."It is a general popular error to imagine that loudest complainers for the public to be the most anxious for it's welfare" Edmund Burke
