  • 'Lethal' shell discovered

    http://www.unison.ie/irish_independe...issue_id=10106

THE ARMY bomb disposal unit was called to deal with a potentially lethal shell which was discovered in the shed of a Dublin house yesterday.

The 6lb shell, believed to be decades old, was found by new owners clearing out the shed of a house on Grenville Terrace, off the South Circular Road.

The shell was taken away by the Army and is to be destroyed.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Is it named poorly then. Shells (carb, lobster, jackets) normally encase the important bit.

Nope, explosive shells are so named because there is a metal shell containing the explosive, to which a fuse is attached.
