  • Defence Force Vehicles

Anyone got any views on the vehicles the defence forces have?

Any part of the MT Course, or anything to do generally about Transport within the army.

Transport still lacks some the gear they need ie they dont have enough drops, but the do a good job with the gear they have.

French Army ACMAT similar to type operated by Irish Defence Forces mainly by the 2nd Regiment

These vehicles were used in Somailia as gunships, the back cover was removed and seats fitted facing left & right these positions were fitted with a GPMG there was also a GPMG fitted to the front passenger position. Some gunships had the tripod mount fitted for the .5 HMG. These vehicles were used for convoy security and were place primarily at the back and front of the convoy.

Has anyone seen all the UNMIL vehicles on the square at McKee painted white UN lettering, UNMIL reg plates.

New Land Rover Defender (LWB) types, painted in camo green / black. Saw them parked up at the airport. Boys were packing heat as well.
